To Celebrate International Women’s Day: Watch Films About Women Made by Women
This is adapted from an Indiegogo update for supporters of Kathy’s film, “The Sexy Six: A Story of Lifelong Friendship”. Please tell your friends about this film!
In honor of International Women’s Day, we thought we’d take an opportunity to celebrate our short documentary film, “The Sexy Six: A Story of Lifelong Friendship”, from its all-female angle. It is the story of six women — who met as young girls — and navigated all the twists and turns typically thrown a woman’s way as they managed to deepen and strengthen bonds that would last a lifetime.
Not only was the film helmed by a woman director — my core support came from women in all the top-level film crew positions: Viki Forrest (Executive Producer), Donna Aitoro-Williams (Producer) and Donna Frassetto (Story Editor). Naturally, we had some great guys on board to make this film be the best it could be, but they worked for us! And together, our amazing cast and crew are being recognized for our achievement with these early film festival results.
Big thanks to you — our supporters. We could not have made an award-winning film without your commitment to lending a hand to independent filmmaking.
It is still early days on the film festival circuit for us. Due to the pandemic, the festivals we have competed in so far have all been virtual. We are hopeful that as things open up later in the year, we will eventually get some opportunities to see “The Sexy Six” on a big screen in a movie theater. But the good news, for now, is that more people are seeing this film each week.
We’ve also won an actual prize! As a finalist in the Independent Shorts Awards, we have been added to the festival’s streaming channel on a new platform called Xerb.tv. Check it out if you have the chance, but remember, as a supporter of our film you can always watch it for free at:

We continue our fundraising efforts in order to reach our original goal of $10,000. Help us get there by:
- Purchasing a Sexy Six Recipe Book for $35. Click on this link and select the Recipe Book perk at the top of the right-hand column. The book features some great stories about our families and Norwalk, Connecticut, many photos not seen in the film — and actual recipes from each of the Sexy Six, organized by their famous Progressive Dinner Party courses. It’s a true collectible for cookbook fans.
- Letting your friends know about the film. While we ask that you share your link and password to view the film for free discreetly, you can widely share our Vimeo on Demand link.
